Hi Katrina
Many thanks for your email.
I was so sorry to hear the news of your mother but as you said it was surely a happy release. My mother died just before Christmas of end stage dementia and I felt the same. She had reached the point where it was hard to imagine any quality of life and she seemed to be ready to not struggle any more. Charlie used to visit her in the Nursing Home with me and my mother always new his name even if she couldn't remember whether she had breakfast or not. Of course it's always hard for those left behind and I think the husbands and wives of that generation always did so much together that it's particularly hard for them to be left alone. Your father must find it very strange after so long together. Hopefully your dogs have been good therapy for you and the need to plan ahead for them will give you plenty to look forward to.
I can't finish without a mention of Charlie and what a gorgeous boy he is turning out to be. Not just handsome to look at but a lovely temperament (not surprising given his breeding) and my constant companion - such a joy!
With best wishes
Lindsey
(Charlie is a son of Klaus and Xambi)

Thought you'd like these pics Katrina, Tarn is doing great, he was having a very photogenic day today, and he's decided that the car is just an outdoor kennel , as for the ducklings, well we think he wants to love them not eat them! Hope you are enjoying the sunshine, so nice to be warm at last isn't it Penny x
Katrina, just to let you see he is settling in really well, I will ring over the weekend too but thought you might like some pictures, he is absolutely lovely, very steady, totally unfazed by everything so far, sits to command, seems to know his name and has only had a little accident inside which is of course our fault, he is a bit mouthy but learning already that we don't like being chewed.I am so very glad the other people couldn't keep him, but why is a bit of a mystery as so far he is very easy. So delighted with him, feels like home again so thankyou so much.

Hello Katrina, thought you would like an update on our lovely Tarn, as you can see he is doing really well, ears sorted feet still a work in progress , he is a real joy so far, brilliant in the car, house trained incredibly quickly and so far just a real pleasure . He is very bold when he on the lead and will bark fiercely at anything that stands still so big trees are his current favourite, he is much less brave off the
lead and has the sense to stay close when in doubt.
He has been great with the various children he has met although obviously that is a steep learning curve on both sides! My youngest daughter forgets he doesn't understand all the commands yet but they are getting there, he inevitably gets called Flint so often he must think it is his middle name but he is a worthy replacement and has been hugely admired everywhere, then again he is a really beautiful dog and we are very glad to have him.
So thankyou again and I shall try and keep you updated on his progress
Hope you and yours are all well
Regards,
Penny

Tarn (Kesyra Hercules)
Hi Katrina,
can't believe Tarn is one already, here are some up to date pictures of him, he's very beautiful and very like his mum I think, we met his brother again by chance they are still very similar but we're glad we got Tarn, Bristol has the Gromit hunt on at the moment and the first one Tarn saw made him jump out of his skin, he barked fiercly at it so we sat by it for a bit until he realised it was no threat , he rather sheepishly licked it's nose as we left it, certainly amused the passers by!! Take care Penny x

Hello Katrina , just thought you would like some up to date pictures of
Tarn, all grown up. He is doing really well, a bit over enthusiastic
about life sometimes but lovely, brilliant with kids and all our other
livestock, few things funnier than watching a full size Shepherd being
chased by a duck!
Hope you and yours are all well, I here you have more Xambi pups hope
they are doing well

Hi Katrina, nice to hear from you, here are some pics of Tarn all grown
up (well almost , still pretty puppyish at times )
He has grown up to be a beautiful dog, indeed barely a walk goes by
without someone commenting on his beauty, as you can see he is very much
part of the family, still bullied by the duck, brilliant with kids and a
real softy , when the chicken was ill he lay next to her all day
watching over her! meeting my nieces new cat he was desperate to make
friends , the cat was having none of it but Tarn tried desperately.
We took him to the Bath and Wewest show this summer and he was really
good and his first camping trip where he was very laid back and
absolutely loved the sea. Funnily enough too we were out with him one
day in Keynsham and started talking to a cuouple who admired him
greatly and then asked if he was one of yours as they had been on your
website and recognised the look of him, small world !
Hope you and all your crew are doing well, we often look on your website
to see how you are all getting on
Take care
Pennyxx

*************************Hi Katrina
We have been away in Scotland so very sorry we missed your call. Please see attached pictures Charley was exactly six months on the Saturday when we were away (but then you know that). We all had an absolute ball and Charley loved every moment and was very good travelling and sleeping in strange surroundings.
We would love to come for the puppy party if we can Please let us know exactly when you are hoping to hold it and hopefully we can make it He is growing into a gorgeous and well loved hound and is still full of mischief and strong willed when the mood takes him. We are going to start training him in working trails not necessarily to use him as such but just to give him more to think about and you never know
Kind Regards
Mike Long

Thanks for the photo. I still think Xambi is a lovely dog and a great credit to you. She has such a lovely expressive face - can't believe it's been 12 months. She is currently having a well earned rest as we spent the morning in the woods running through very wet grass and mud and then it started to rain which for her was even more fun! She never minds the rain as you will remember it did nothing else for the first three months or so of her life.
Winnie has grown from a lovely looking puppy into a stunning young lady! Everyone says how pretty she is and we are first in the line to agree.
You remember how worried I was about her not been very energetic. Well we can forget all of that - I think I must have been a very neurotic mum! In the last few weeks she is into everything, loves playing - especially with her tuggy, and is doing all the naughty things a younger puppy does - only at a later stage. She is enjoying life to the full and keeping us all on our toes which is great. She has even had Grace playing and as Grace is an old dignified lady now and a bit unsteady that is a great feat! I think Winnie concentrated the fist 6 months on growing and now she has that sorted she feels she can now have some fun! It's lovely to hear from you and I will have to get the camera out again and send you some more pics.
Thanks for the e-mail its lovely to hear from you.
Love from Pat and us all xx
Hi Katrina
Just a quick mail to show you this. Winnie always likes to be where she can see everything and then join in whatever we are doing, whether it's gardening (she's a dab hand at the first stage of planting i.e., digging the holes), or getting involved in housework - pinching the duster or floor cloth and then playing round and round the table! She drives Dave daft as she is a lot quicker than him. She can now retrieve however and can be asked to bring things back - especially when there is a treat at the end of it for her. She learnt that trick very quickly!
Hope this finds you all well and not too waterlogged. Everything here is sodden - Winnie also likes muddy pools so my very clean replacement car will not stay like that for long I think!
All the best.
Pat and Dave

Hi Katrina
It's lovely to hear from you and I hope you and your lovely dogs are all well.
Where has the last 2 years gone? It's as if Winnie has always been here and is a very loving, playful and active girl.
She is learning (with lots of play and rewards) that heelwork, scent and sendaway is good fun. Everything is done with some sort of reward in mind and she loves to play with me and her tuggie. She was more than a little laid back to start with but I have given her pleanty of time and play and she is now progressing very well.
She loves going to the shows and everyone says what a lovely looking girl she is - I cannot argue there - she's stunning.
The obedience work is good fun but above all she is our very much loved friend. Annie would be lost without her - although sometimes she looks as if she could do with a rest from the play now that Winnie is so much bigger than her and she is in her middle years!
I hope the rest of her litter have turned out well for everyone and I'll send some new pics soon.
All the very best - and thank you for the e-mail.
Pat + Winnie
